Nintendo Fun Club News #5

Ready, set go!  It’s time for issue 5 of the Nintendo Fun Club News which features the racing game RC Pro Am.

This issue is pretty much a copy of the previous issue in terms of layout and design.  At this point, Nintendo was progressing along in its plan to dominate the US video game market but this issue features a couple games that are not really remembered today.  The two biggest features of this issue are the cover feature of RC Pro Am and a 2 page feature of Goonies II.  While neither game is a bad game, they were just not major hits for the system at the time and today are not games that are covered or featured in retro reviews.  For those who may be interested though, Goonies II got a great in depth series of articles over at AnatomyofGames.com.

Looking ahead at new games on the way, we see the first extended look at Zelda 2 and the first mention of a sequel to Super Mario Bros. though the game they are referencing would be a totally different game than what we would eventually see in America as Super Mario Bros. 2.  Also, we see a reference to return of Donkey Kong which would eventually come to the system as Donkey Kong Classics.

Enjoy this issue of the Nintendo Fun Club News and as always…Play with Power!
